This workshop will allow individuals with basic billing and coding knowledge to understand a provider’s rights, responsibilities and options in dealing with insurance claims that have been denied. Whether you have a contract to provide services or are billing as a courtesy, know how you can approach more complex aspects of getting paid without having to spend hours on each denial.
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Understand and differentiate between different denial types
- Know how to write an appeal letter, make a call for an appeal, file an appeal online or manually, and which approach will maximize your payment
- Understand the follow up on appeals

About The Presenter
Mallory Espejo, CPC, is a certified medical coder with over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She has gained experience in several medical practices, serving a wide variety of functions from front desk to administration. Mallory is a co-owner and billing manager at MTSL Group where she oversees the daily billing operations, coding compliance, and provides ongoing physician billing/coding education. Her work ethic combined with her experience and passion for billing has helped naturopathic providers implement processes to improve charting documentation, reduce denials, and increase reimbursement.
